In English, uncle means the brother of your father or mother. But in Chinese, brothers of your father or mother are made very clear. If a person is an elder brother of your father, you should call him Bo Fu or Da Ye. If a person is a younger brother of your father, you should call him Shu Shu.

The reason why Chinese make it so clear is that in the long history of China, there are 2000 years that China is a feudal society. A feudal society is highly hierarchical.

Uncles of your mother should be called Jiu. Chinese does not differ elder brother and younger brother of mother side.

Wedding ceremony is different fr

Wedding ceremony is different from place to place. But for most place, the ceremony include a person announce the broom and bride as a couple.

The bride will go to meet the broom's relatives. If the bride know one relative of the broom, she should call the relative the same thing as the broom starting at that moment.

In China, one can not call a senior or older relative their names. They should be call as something like uncle, ant, grandma and so on. Calling a senior relative as Mr. something is regarded as very impolite.

The old China think men is more important that women. So for the men's side, everything is important.
