Chinese calligraphy works have served as a decoration outdoor wall idea for thousands of years. People use the art works to decorate rooms. There usually are some Chinese calligraphy works hang on the wall to decorate the homes.

Most Chinese houses have a courtyard. There are a big door at the gate. On the top of the door, there should be some Chinese calligraphy works. Even poor people in China will have Chinese calligraphy works there. If the Chinese characters there were some print, the owner of the house will be regarded as an idiot.

A calligraphy work of "happy birthday" is likely to decorate a birthday party. If it's a birthday party for an old person, their usually some calligraphy about "longevity" will show up.

Today, Chinese calligraphy art works are also appear in cars. In China, a lot of cars are decorated with some good Chinese phrase such as "safe on the way" in Chinese calligraphy.

On the wedding day, there should be some Chinese calligraphy characters such as "double happiness", "good fortune", "celebration". These calligraphy works should be on red paper since red means good fortune or luck.

A large part of historical Chinese art works was successfully preserved as the tombstones. Famous calligraphy works are Zhang Qian Bei, Cao Quan Bei, Yan Qin Li Bei and so on.

If there are no Chinese calligraphy, there will be no decoration in China.

All vehicles used for the wedding day should be decorated with the calligraphy "celebration". When the vehicles running on the way, it indicates the wedding to people.

In Jin dynasty, carved tombstones was forbidden. So there are less Chinese calligraphy works in that period left although Jin dynasty is one of the glorious period in Chinese calligraphy.

In China, most signboards are written in Chinese calligraphy. If a sign is not written in calligraphy, it give viewers an impression that the company or shop is not professional.
